Eric Brinster

Saxophone

Eric Brinster is a dedicated saxophonist whose musical journey spans decades, marked by both professional performance and a deep commitment to family and lifelong learning.

Brinster began his career early, taking up the saxophone in high school and going on the road with bands across the Western United States and Canada by age 19. His early experiences included playing with groups that opened for acts like Cold Blood and backing accomplished musicians such as Ernestine Anderson and Diane Schuur.

At age 33, Brinster made the decision to pause his music career for 25 years to focus on raising his children. Now, with his children grown and established, he has reinvested himself in developing his musical skills. As a committed lifelong learner, Brinster practices and studies music every day. He returned to college to study music theory for two years and has recently performed with groups such as Big Earl, Join The Band, and the EdCC Salsa Big Band, where he has focused on refining his jazz, funk, blues, and salsa skills. He is especially thrilled to be a member of the JFB Quintet, where he continues to grow as a musician.
