OUR STORY

About the Band

A shared ambition sparked the formation of the Pacific Northwest’s newest contemporary jazz, funk, and blues collective. Co-founders Eric Brinster and Doug Kleiber, inspired by a live performance at the renowned Jazz Alley club in Seattle Washington, recognized playing at the iconic Seattle venue as a quintessential “jazz player’s dream” for any PNW musician. Just two weeks later, the vision became a reality when Eric called Doug, and the pair committed to assembling a group dedicated to mastering the fusion of jazz, funk, and blues, with a clear ultimate goal: performing on that revered stage.

The group’s sound is a rich tapestry woven from strong jazz influences with a significant infusion of funk and blues. Their library pays homage to contemporary jazz giants such as Tom Scott, David Sanborn, and Bob James, curating a sophisticated and modern feel.

The initial recruitment process was seamless. Eric brought in John Osborne on keyboards, leveraging past collaborations, while Doug extended an invitation to Bill MacDonald (guitar), a fellow former bandmate who also owns the recording studio where the group currently holds its weekly rehearsals. The lineup was solidified with the crucial addition of John Bowen on bass, rounding out the five-piece instrumentation.

Now rehearsing diligently in their dedicated studio space, this group of musicians is channeling their shared passion and collective talent toward their ambitious, shared goal, poised to make their mark on the Pacific Northwest’s vibrant music scene.
